Viernes Automotor: Porsche Carrera GT

Mucho tiempo paso para que el Viernes Automotor regresara a este blog, pero sin mas excusas aquí esta uno de los pocos Porsche's que son de mi agrado:

El Porsche Carrera GT es un automóvil superdeportivo producido por el fabricante alemán Porsche entre los años 2003 y 2006. Es un tracción trasera con motor central trasero y carrocería descapotable de dos puertas y dos plazas. El Carrera GT fue designado como el coche más rápido del año 2005.

Historia

El desarrollo del Carrera GT se remonta a sus predecesores, los automóviles de carreras Porsche 911 GT1-98 y Porsche LMP1-98, que fueron abandonados cuando el reglamento de la FIA y de ACO cambió en 1998. Porsche había planeado inicialmente que el sustituto a ser estrenado en 1999 tendría un motor de seis cilindros con turbocompresor, pero el proyecto se aplazó al año 2000 para desarrollar un V10 atmosférico. El V10 era un proyecto abandonado que se había desarrollado secretamente en 1992 para el equipo Footwork de Fórmula 1. El motor fue resucitado para el prototipo de Le Mans y aumentado de cilindrada a 5,5 litros.

Sin embargo, el proyecto del gran turismo de Le Mans fue cancelado a dos días del comienzo de pruebas de la primera unidad a mediados de 1999, sobre todo porque parte del equipo de ingenieros de Porsche que estaba trabajando en la división deportiva fue trasladado para desarrollar el Porsche Cayenne. También se especuló que el presidente del Grupo Volkswagen, Ferdinand Piëch, deseaba que el Audi R8, el prototipo de Le Mans de Audi, no rivalizara con el Porsche en la temporada 2000.

Porsche modificó el diseño del proyecto y lo presentó como prototipo en el Salón del Automóvil de Ginebra de 2000. El interés del público y las ganancias del exitoso Cayenne llevaron a que Porsche decidiera desarrollar una versión de calle de edición limitada.

Porsche comenzó a fabricar el Carrera GT en el año 2003 en la planta de Leipzig (Alemania), y se puso a la venta en Estados Unidos el 31 de enero de 2004 a un precio de unos US$ 440.000. Originalmente se planeaba fabricar 1.500 unidades, pero Porsche anunció en agosto de 2005 que se dejaría de fabricar en el año 2006. Hasta el 6 de mayo de 2006, se fabricaron 1.270 unidades del Carrera GT, y 604 fueron vendidas en los Estados Unidos.

Mecánica

El Carrera GT es impulsado por un 5,7 litros V10 del motor la producción de 612 DIN (605 SAE) caballos de fuerza (450 k W ), mientras que el original concept car presentado una versión 5.5 litros 558 caballos de fuerza nominal de (416 kW).Porsche dice que acelerará 0 a 100 kmh (62,1 mph ) en 3,9 segundos y alcanza una velocidad máxima de mas de 335 km / h (207mph), aunque las pruebas por carretera indicó que, en realidad, el coche puede acelerar de 0 -60 mph (97 km / h) en 3,5 segundos y 0-100 mph (160 km / h) en 6,8 segundos, mientras 0-125 mph (201 km / h) en 9,9 segundos.

La única caja de cambios ofrecida es una manual de seis marchas. La palanca de cambios es de madera de abedul y fresno, en homenaje a la de los Porsche 917 que compitieron en Le Mans.

Chasis y carrocería

El chasis monocasco y el subchasis del Carrera GT están hechos íntegramente de fibra de carbono. El radiador del Carrera GT es cerca de cinco veces más grande que el del Porsche 911 Turbo. A diferencia de algunos de sus rivales, el Carrera GT no ofrece control de estabilidad, pero sí control de tracción.

Los discos de freno de 380 mm están hechos de material cerámico, y el capó trasero es de fibra de carbono. Al igual que otros modelos de Porsche, el Carrera GT tiene un alerón trasero que se despliega al superar los 110 km/h, el cual permite un mejor apoyo aerodinámico en altas velocidades.

Revisión de TopGear

Para mi uno de los mejores y mas bellos autos que hay, el cual a pesar de tener las mismas desventajas de todos los supera autos (increíbles en las pistas, impracticos en la vida real), incluso se gana mi cariño a pesar de ser un Porsche ya que para mi todos los Porsche's se parecen. Yo le doy:
