Jewelry Trends at IIJW 2011-Jewelry by Golecha | latest Jewelry Trends,

The recently concluded India International Jewelry Week saw five days of bauble hysteria, where subtlety stayed behind to allow a no-holds-barred fiesta of all that sparkles. Vogue.in breaks it down trend-wise.

Vintage:
At the Kay Jewels show, new girl on the block Kalki Koechlin perfectly worked the old-world look, wearing rows of pearls accentuated with crimson stones.  Pearls also helped create an epochal mood at boththe Golecha and Manubhai Gems shows.

Contemporary:
Pop took center-stage at Rosily, where vivid shades of red and blue were incorporated into the statement pieces. Kitschy motifs were shown at both the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and Jewels Emporium shows. Actress Amrita Rao wore a floral bib-like neckpiece at the Agni Jewels show, while the Johara show went for the tribal look, replete with facial graphics. No one looked more chic in contemporary than the face of the week herself, Sonam Kapoor, who wore the Queen of The Night creation by Shaun Leane for Boucheron at the Best of The Best show (the Grand Finale).

Traditional:
On the subject of intricacy, traditional designs in gold were the highlights at the CVM Exports and Dipti Amisha shows; while on the other hand, it was traditional silver which stole the show at the Dwarkadas Chandumal show. Pageant-inspired ornaments, replete with adorned crowns, were shown at Golecha. The Jewels Emporium and Laxmi Jewellry Exports shows were both, very traditional, and modern classic belles Malaika Arora Khan and Feroze Gujral wore designs by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas and Alpana Gujral respectively.

Neo-Traditional:
The YS18 show showed interesting twists on otherwise traditional pieces, and the trend was also seen in the Surana Gems & Jewelry show. Mahima Choudhary wore a show-stopping piece by Sawansukha while Lara Dutta added pizzazz to The Grand Finale by walking for PCJ. The Tanishq show showed a Sultan-style edge on traditional chokers, while a blend of layers made for an interest look at GIA. The modern maharani look was exemplified beautifully by both Shraddha Kapoor (for Anmol Jewelers) and Esha Kopikkar Narang (for Kashi Jewelers).
